Featuring a creamy texture and great taste avocados can be eaten by themselves or added to salads or an ingredient in other recipes. They have a distinctive skin that turns from green to a purplish/black colour when ripe. With green skin it will take four to five days to ripen at room temperature - where the skin turns a blackish-purplish colour. When they yield to gentle pressure, they're ready to eat.
